In 2004, Doctor of Science in Accounting Program (PDIA) was born as an interest in the Doctoral Program in Economics (PDIE). Although just as interest, but the program is full freedom of PDIE to determine his courses themselves. So that the subjects that are presented by the program is fully are subjects that are relevant to accounting.

The curriculum used has a characteristic, namely curriculum Multiparadigma. Multiparadigma showed that accounting can be understood and developed from the four paradigms (viewpoints), namely: the paradigm of positivism, interpretivism paradigm, the paradigm of critical and postmodern paradigms.

Two years later, the program is trying to make a proposal to put themselves forward as an independent study program. In 2007, the Higher Education granted permission to No. at the Faculty of Economics and Business to operate this program with the name of the Doctoral Program of Accounting Science (PDIA). Curriculum 2007 is different from the curriculum in 2004, but remains distinctively multiparadigma with reinforcement in several subjects, including aspects of spirituality.

Feature multiparadigma great concern for prospective students, because these traits not possessed by other universities are conducting the same program. In addition, multiparadigma provides ample opportunity for students to perform quantitative-positivistic research, or positivistic qualitative, qualitative-interpretivis, qualitative-critical, and qualitative-posmodernis accordance with their respective interests.

In 2012, PDIA implement a curriculum that has been modified in accordance with the development environment. Feature cash remains grounded in multiparadigma with reinforcement in the aspect paradigm, research tools, and material accounting discipline. In the same year PDIA received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board – Higher Education (BAN-PT).

To strengthen the academic process is routinely done, PDIA held University of Brawijaya International Consortium on Accounting abbreviated to UBICon. In the year 2012 has organized the fourth, namely the Fourth University of Brawijaya International Consortium on Accounting (the 4thUBIcon). In 2014 held the Fifth University of Brawijaya International Consortium on Accounting, and so on.

Other academic activities are Epistemology Debate Accounting Multiparadigma (Deam). This is a debate Deam accounting epistemology of multiple paradigms. This debate involves faculty and students as well as resource persons from outside the UB. This debate was held throughout the semester (or even one half of the semester) performed every two weeks for two hours. Until now (2013) the implementation of the fourth Deam has been called by the name of Epistemology Debate Multiparadigma Accounting Series 4 (Deams-4).

Other activities Accounting Research Training Series which until 2013 had held the fourth with the name of Accounting Research Training Series-4 (ARTS-4). In January 2014 was held ARTS-5, and so on. Basically ARTS provides research methodology training of paradigms owned by PDIA. Participants of ARTS is open to students and researchers outside accounting and in the UB.

PDIA also organizes Training of Trainees Accounting Theory of Sharia (TOT-TAS). Until the year 2013, this training has been conducted for the third time by the name of TOT-TAS III. This training presents the basic level training, middle, and upper.

To strengthen the student’s character, PDIA INSIGHT compiled the book, is a book that inspires professors to develop teaching methods. In addition to publishing INSIGHT, PDIA also organizes training organized learning methods in serial. In 2013, for the first time this training is done, INSIGHT-1.

In 2012, PDIA formed Alumni Association of Accounting Doctoral Program – Universitas Brawijaya (IKA PDIA-UB) and the Accounting Society Multiparadigma Indonesia (MAMI). IKA PDIA -UB established to maintain contact with alumni as well as to expand network PDIA development. While MAMI was established in order to disseminate the concept of accounting multiparadigma throughout Indonesia. MAMI membership not only alumni, but also open to anyone interested in the development and accounting practices in Indonesia. MAMI hold regular meetings with the name of the National MAMI Meeting (Friends). The first friend (friend-1) held in January 2014.
